The day I did the readings it was in the 30s outside I live in Northern Michigan.

The engine temp was 186. I was expecting the air temp to be warmer. The best way to check it is to look at the data before the truck is started and compare the CTS with the IAT and they should match.

Just to elaborate on HT's advice. Make sure the engine is dead cold or the coolant is ambient temperature when you make your comparison.
