I'm kinda at a loss here. I'm entirely new to this site so if I am violating some terms of service or if this topic belongs in another thread sorry and feel free to lock.

My 2001 Ford Escort 2L (regular model) hasn't put out cold air from the A/C in a long time. I've taken it to several mechanics and they all have said it didn't need to be recharged and that it was a bad compressor.

I went to my favorite mechanic and he switched out the compressor twice with new ones. Both new compressors wouldn't even let the car start for whatever reason, that's just what he told me.

He said to take it to car A/C experts as it was above his expertise. He put the old compressor that works but doesn't put out cold air.

What could this issue be? Why would two separate compressors not work?

Read this first..........

http://autoforums.carjunky.com/.../C_PROBLEMS_P114495/

You are in the right section and mods can move posts anyway. No matter. You'll either have to get real serious and post tons more info about observations, how you charged it up, and what was wrong with the old compressor. Many condensers don't flush debris out so must be replaced.

If you don't have the equipment or can rent it for more info on this I strongly suggest sending it out to a pro A/C shop. Mistakes can set you back to square one or worse cost you tons more if all messed up than letting a pro do it,

To add to this.... There is a whole lot more to repairing a compressor failure than simply dropping a new compressor on it.

Just re-read top post and saw that TWO compressors didn't let the car start?! OMG - locked up right away with oil or what's with that? If that meant compressor engaged and locked something's wildly wrong with the way it was installed as it should have been spun off the car before hand.

Your "favorite" mechanic and may be excellent did say to send it out which we are. Try to get some feel for how much $$ as best they can as it could exceed the car's value depending on what is found,
