I have a 2001 kia sephia with a 1.8L that when i replaced the alt I had to take off the a/c lines at the fire wall connection. How do I recharge the system now that I have the lines back on? Do I just get a recharge kit or is there more to it?

If the system was opened you have to apply vacuum to it to boil off any moisture and also as a leak check. You then need to charge it according to manufacturer's specs. You will need a set of guages that have a yellow line for recharging.

luci:

Right in this section is step by step instructions for recharging.

You must start from a well held vacuum (as said) and charge by weight. 134a is fussy and wants to be right on the target.

Never have but word has is AutoZone and others will rent equipment for free for safe return!

Read/print article as needed. Steve is right - moisture and air (has moisture in it) must be removed by a pump. Should hold vacuum of 29.92 Hg's at sea level - discount 1 point for each 1,000 ft of elevation,
