Engine noises: I can't re-write the book on which one means what and how to check but you can find it. If a rod or crankshaft bearing or other just cancelling out a cylinder one at a time can be telling as noise will stop or change but you need to know what to expect and I don't think you do.

No harm intended but get this diagnosed by a pro!

Can't really tell you what the knocking noise is without being able to actually hear it.

Does the knock get faster or more intense when you rev the engine? Is there anyway you could record the noise and post it up on Youtube. Then you can send us the link.

There isn't any chemicals that you can add to make a knocking noise go away if it mechanical. If you have carbon build up in a combustion chamber that could cause a knocking noise. In that case using a top engine cleaner through an induction apparatus might get rid of carbon knocks.

Just curious: What were your compression numbers?

My friend who did the compression test is a tech for a local dealer he said it was fine but i'll as him. I got no way to get the sound on youtube but it does speed up when rev the engine. I have to take it to work today then I think I might drop it off to get looked at. At least it's running for now

So I drove it to work this morning with the loud knocking the faster I went the faster it went. I had it up to like 50 and had to stop for a red light as soon as I slowed down I thought the car stalled but it didn't it's quiet again no knocking or tapping at all. I drove it all day with no problems at all. Smile

Interesting. That's a good thing. Maybe you had a lifter that wasn't fully pumped up or maybe a chunk of carbon finally blew out the exhaust. Glad to see you got it running again.
