AC compreor pulley locked up and the serpentine belt melted and broke. I drove the car as far as i could to try and get it close to home. The car started smoking and shut down. I had to have it towed the ret of the way home. I had the compresor and belt replaced, tested the alternator it' good, replaced the battery and sparkplug wires. Now it will turn over but won't start. What else could it be?

You drove it without a belt until the engine stopped. Were you not paying any attention to the gauges? The belt also drives the water pump so driving it without one will cause it to overheat real fast. continuing to drive it after that will do serious engine damage. You probably turned a bad A/C compressor into a blown motor too by continuing to drive it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No I wasn't paying attention until it started shutting down. How would i know if it's the motor? I am getting gas and have fire, but it just won't turn over. I was told it could be the cars computer that shut the car down. Is that possible.

That's because you likely have no compression. i suggest you take a complete compression test to confirm the suspicions.

Can I do this without having it towed to a shop?

That depends, do you have a compression tester and do you know how to perform a compression test? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Remove all the spark plugs, disable the spark, have someone hold the throttle wide open, thread the gauge into each spark plug hole, one at a time and crank the engine 3 revolutions and write down the pressure reading on the gauge.
