PirateThis is how I feel right now! VEH.INFO.: 1986 Ford F-150,5liter/302 FI,Man.Trans.,80k miles. I bought the truck a few weeks back the ignition switch/key switch would not return to the run/drive position so it just needed a slight turn back,no problem...well my wife took the truck out when I was at work and did not know about the key switch & shot the starter. I replaced the started&silonoid the only way to start was to jump between poles on silonoid, the key would turn but nothing,at that time I had dash & cab lights, now I don't and the key switch turns without key but I have no power to dash/cab.Any age old wisdom from "the car gods"? except to keep wife away cuz thats a given. Thanks, Nailed

Re: Electrical problem Sign In

You may have broken the actuator mechanism . Take electrical switch off the column and turn key back and forth if rod does not move it is broken . The column must come apart to replace . Heres a diagram.

Can't be sure - in '86 Frauds had key in the dash still.

Starter running while engine is running can be assorted problems. Most just waste a starter but can't be sure,

Do I actually remember Jack Poo? Not always.

It must be "medication" time - keeps us in line or something??
