heater problem Sign In

1993 ford ranger 4 cylinder about 125,000 miles runs great the heater sucks not much heat in cab had changed heater core and thermostat still luke warm air . temp meter is running on low side did feel heat from motor & radiator coolant full no leaks. what should check next Crazy?

Hmmm? From cold start up and feel upper radiator hose - aftern thermostat but close to engine end. It should stay quite cold untile thermostat starts to open, then on for a rush of heat toward radiator. If that warms before engine reads a normal and uniform temp then coolant is getting by the thermostat too fast.

New of not, not much should be slipping by and I suspect it is for now - that test would show that.

Sometimes especially if thermostat is mounted vertically they slip their spot while finishing up and allow coolant to pass,
