Do you mean axles or whole differential? I still doubt it mostly because of 1500 vs 2500 there will be a snag then you want to know ratio if for whole assemblies. Do you have the tags on each of them? If so you may get a fast answer from a salvage yard. All questions, sorry. What's wrong with the ones you have? T

Whole assemblies. no numbers yet, but i will have. my biggest concern is the transmition difference from standard to auto. i heard once if you changed a vehicle from a manual to a auto or vice versa you had o change the diff. if thats true it also stands to reson that you cant use a diff from an auto in a standard and vice fersa.

The nut came off of the yoke where it goes in to the rear end. spit the drive line out on the road. I don't know if there's any damage in the diff yet. i figured id have to rebuild it any way. i wanted to go to some kind of limited slip or positrack or something till i priced them. i already have the 86 chevy and it is a beast on the bottem end. Sorry cant spell for squwatt

If you have both vehicles you could match up the drive shafts for just that much. Not so sure one standard shift vs auto really changes all differentials. Truck stuff for this comes with all kinds of choices for gear ratios, limited slip or some kind of traction controls may or may not be a problem. What is wrong with the one you want to keep? If just a repair many aren't so bad and some not worth it IMO. If just a growling wheel bearing the GM brilliance used the axle for the bearing race so needed a new axle shaft and new bearing plus seal. Even then I really think you are stuck for good used or try to find new (unsure on that) so would have to look around. I doubt just an axle is the same 1500 to 2500 at all. Mostly size. What are you trying to do or fix is the real question from me, T

Posts crossed and didn't see that. I'd be hot out checking for exact right used and if you have another I doubt will work see if you can swap that out for partial credit or maybe make a dime and cash in on the whole spare minus any parts you know you might need if otherwise junk, T

"quote" If the nut came off he pinion while driving down the road the pinion would have fallen into the rotating ring gear and you can be sure there is serious damage inside there. You're better off looking for a whole new differential. Yes. thats y i would like to put the whole axel differential from the 86 under the 93. just dont know if it will work for sure.

Just going from a 1500 to a 2500 is enough to say it will likely be different, not to mention the year difference and different options available withing the same year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Main thing is that the gear ratio in the front and rear ends are the same or really really close or you can say good bye to your transfer case. If I were you I would call around some salvage yards and look for a good used rear end that fits that truck. You may also be able to find an LSD rear end that was an option for that year that will fit too. When you start playing around swapping rear ends out of different years and models, you start running into all kinds of fitment issues. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
