Have a 84 Chevy pickup 305 Auto that decided to not start. Truck in dead. No horn no lights. Checked battery it was getting close to bad so I replaced it. Still same problem. I checked the negative battery cable by disconnecting it from the ground and using a load meter it tested good. I have not checked the positive battery cable yet. If I checked that and still have no power, what next? Thanks for the help[email]

Clean all connections and rust proof them both at battery, engine ends of battery cables. The hot one goes to the starter and be careful not to break it off - NOTE : Do this with battery neg disconnected. Also - engine or direct from battery must connect body of veh to ground and that needs to work properly too. For rust/corrosion protection I like silicone grease. The starter motor/at solonoid should be dealt with carefully as you got some years on this. Penetratings oils etc may help, if it breaks - you can replace just the piggy backed solonoid where the wires all go. Good luck,
