2006 silverado 6.6 deisel engine shakes

Does anyone know what could make my truck shake and shimmy at about 1500 rpm in 5th and 6th gear. 2006 Chevy Silverado 3500 6.6L duramax engine with automatic transmission. Engine code came up fuel injector #8 leak. Could this be the problem?

Haven't you just answered your own question? Any engine lugging (low RPM with a load) will act worse if not even for any reason. I'm not so involved with diesels but if easy enough swap that inj to another and see if problem follows injector. Also as with any engine if leaking enough it can contaminate the oil and no doubt more-so with gasoline the cylinder wash can lower compression. I wouldn't wait to tend this one way or another,
