I have a 2005 ford ranger, 3L, auto, 65k, has always ran great, live @3500ft,yesterday on cold engine nailed it on slight hill @ 1/4 mi. turned to dr/wy and felt like power loss, stopped and shut engine off. Very hard starting and would run smooth in neutral between 1k and 3k, above 3k would try to shut down. Went ahead and drove 8mi to destination ran well, later in after noon same problem but ran well home. This very hard to start, and so far not running. I have been advised of possible fuel press at the fuel rail, would this mean a faulty pressure regulator and or fuel pump defect. Also has engine lite on.

luke54; I'd recommend replacing the fuel filter and then performing a fuel pressure test. Should have 60-65psi KOEO. Loren SW Washington
