2003 Chevy Silverado Overheating Sign In

I have a 2003 Chevy silverado 1500 Hd (LS submodel) with the 6.0 L engine. It started over heating and has over heated twice before we started working on it.. We determined it was the water pump and changed it and also changed the thermostat and burped the system. There is no water in the oil . It is still heating up and we are at a loss of what else it could be.Could it still be a blown head gasket even though it isn't showing any signs of water in the oil or any milky appearing liquid? Any suggestions?

Fan(s) working? Do you feel heat off fans (carefully) off radiator?

Head gasket don't always put coolant in oil so forget that for a diagnosis. Then can leak any which way they seal. With all else good and overheats some will put combustion gasses into cooling system and act as air, not really filled, pressure up fast from cold and frequently bubble to overflow before even warmed up fully if so.

Be sure and all tests for head gasket failure as it is a job and being wrong is not an option IMO,

what are indicators of over heat ? Does it happen quick OR slowly?
gauge? temp rises and fans come on?
expelling coolant? right away starts burping?

Always check routing - yes it can be done wrong.

it is overheating with gauges maxed out in just a matter of a few minutes once you start the truck.fan is coming on and after it is running with cap off it boils over fairly quickly.burped system right away and have done that 4 or 5 times.
