1996 chevy silverado pu. 4x4, 7.4L with 160000 miles. Was going to inspect the distributer cap, but looks like it's sealed to the distributer as one piece, no screws to remove it. Kind of flat looking with 4 plug wires on one side and 4 on the other side. Do I have to buy a hole new distributer just to do a tune up. How much are they approx?

I assume you meant 7.4 (454). If it has a distributor, it's held on by 2 screws. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
