i have a 1984 dodge prospecter with a 5.9l engine.i bought the truck not running. it had no fire. i changed the icm.coil, and ballist resitor and now it fires great. i checked the timing and the plug wires where wrong, so i fixed that. starter was dragging bad so i replaced that. now it turns over good. it has a holley 4 barrel and i worked the throttle and get 2 good streams of gas every time.the problem is it just won't start. it tries to but i will run the battery down and still no start. it was back firing through carb before i fixed the plug wires..please help i at a loss..thanks

If it's backfiring through the carb, then you have either the timing or firing order wrong. Possibly a cross-firing distributor cap. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It needs spark, fuel and compression to run so find out which one you are missing.
