1977 Coachmen RV on a Ford Econoline chassis with a 351C. Should the metal fuel line connect to the carb or can it have flexible fuel line the last few inches to the carb? I'm having "vaporlock" problems and am looking for solutions.

A flexible line is fine with a carb. The pressure is usually under 5 PSI. Vapor lock occurs when the fuel line passes close enough to a heat source to boil the fuel. That won't happen if it's not routed near the exhaust.

You can get high grade line meant for fuel injection. I suggest double clamping, check for any leakage and think about re-routing it away from heat. Think hard and secure line so it can't rub anything as OE would do.

You could do this with metal if good with a tubing bender,
