A true hero - gone but not forgotten, Tom Willetta Doll Shope (February 19, 1933 - April 13, 2009) http://http/...bituaries/355863.jpg Willetta Doll Shope of Boiling Springs, PA passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 after a long battle with lung cancer. Born February 19, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA she was the daughter of the late William N. and Kathryn (Eckert) Doll. Willetta was a graduate of Lower Paxton High School and Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. Willetta was a talented artist. She had many art shows where she displayed and sold her oil paintings. She also sold paintings thru beauty shops; nail salons, and department stores. She began her career as a commercial artist at L M Berry. Later she worked in the advertising department of the M. O’Neil Company in Akron, OH and Mary Sachs store in Harrisburg. While living in New England, Willetta worked at three newspapers, The Town Crier, The Sudbury Citizen and the former Middlesex News. Willetta is survived by her husband of 56 years Alvin L. Shope, Jr.; a son Alvin L. Shope III (Buck) and friend Tara Yohan of Orange, MA; a daughter Lisa S. Paine wife of Adam Paine of Milford, MA. Also surviving are two grandsons William and Daniel Paine of Milford MA and a brother William E. and wife Carolyn Doll of Los Banos, CA. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg with a viewing held at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Salem Lutheran Church 1152 Main Street, Oberlin, PA 17113.
