Yeah i wish things were still that cheap.
I bought a new set of propeller blade for my helicopter yesterday, They are 6" long and made of paper thin plastic $8 bucks for one set of 2 blades.
And there is this thing called a swashplate on them that i had to replace, it's a tiny little plastic thing the size of a quarter with a little bearing in it $10 bucks.Shocked

This hobby cost a lot, thats why i just have this little one cause as the scale goes up so does the parts prices, and i wouldn't be able to afford it the way i crash them.Laugh

Scotty ,here is a tip. If you want to get any decent fly time you are going to have to do some mods. The plastic swash plate is a MAJOR weak point. Break down and get a billet alum one. A trick that will GREATLY improve your flying ,especially hovering is to balance and track your blades . Join one of the many helo forums for how to's.

I just found a new aluminum swashplate for $26 bucks on E-bay.
I'll check with my hobby shop first to see if they can get one.
I will be buying one though.

Dont even start on cars and trucks .Years ago I got my son into r/c racing ,started with a rc-10 offroad buggy won a wall of trophies mods included -- titanium chassis ,adjustable oil filled shocks ,high speed servos , digital solid state speed control, alum wheels , lithium battery packs (8) of 'em ,one for each heat race ,1 for main final. pulse charger...moved on to banked paved track ,,after training with a Bolink basic car , got a Super Speedway , all carbon fiber chassis. graphite axle w/ slipper clutch.hottest motor on the market (hand wound,) airbrushed lexan body . I modded the front end ,,,, I could set caster ,camber ,toe on a minature alignment setup i built using shims cut from beer cans . i used a postal scale at each wheel to set the chassis preload.Another wall of trophies. Now on to the truck pulls .... Got a stock Clod Buster dual motor 4x4. ,,,,,,aluminum chassis, ladder bars , transfer weight bar on front (held 9 lbs of lead plates) Truck only weighed 7 lbs stock.Tires had to be screwed to rims . Won a 7ft trophy in open class pulling a sled ( Scale version of a real one) with 90 lbs on it 20 ft. Finally a Traxx gas powered 4x4 tons of mods expansion chamber exhaust. trick piston ,ran on 27 % nitro. WAS STOLEN FROM son's shop during break in .Never got to race Son FINALLY discovered that thing that women have. Sold everthing at great loss . BUT GOT A GRANDSON IN DEAL>>> he got a rc truck from radio shack for 2nd b-day,..........deja vue

Haha.., I haven't done much with my r/c cars in a long time, and might not ever again.Unsure
I spent a couple Thousand on a hpi savage 4.6 and a hpi evo 3 street car, before i got into hpi's i was into traxxas. I had a T-maxx and a revo 3.3.
It's like $30 bucks now for a gal or 20%.
Nah..., I'll stick my my little heli cause i think the most expansive part on that is like $50 bucks.

Plus the heli don't get the neighbors mad either..Laugh

You guys are nuts but love you for that. I still like Double J's balsa wood job and HAVE one right now! Adjust the metal thingy for how it will fly or do loop-de-lews (sp?) 10 cents or less back when, paper kites perhaps a quarter!

Tom

(edit)

Have one that's marked "JetFire" on may fireplace mantle just like that! THEY STILL SELL THOSE NEW! Not 10 cents anymore but still cheap.....

If adjusted just right they could go for 1/2 a mile with one throw then go find the dang thing!

LMAO, just got off the Matco truck about an hour ago and he has these for sale on the truck (mainly for the kids). Reminds me of the ones when I was a kid...
