Power Windows Sign In

I have a 98 Buick Regal LS in which the Driver side window will not go back up. I checked the fuse box and there is one fuse for the power windows that when the car is on the fuse is HOT!! I tried taking the frame off of the door and pulling the window up manually, but no help. PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Power Windows Sign In

You can narrow this down fairly easily. The window will not pull up against a motor that is still intact so don't waste time with that.

Just turn key to where the windows should work. Look at a dome light (engine off - key on) and see if it flickers or dims when requesting UP or DOWN on that window. You will note that if passenger's window is already up and that one works just ask it to go up and see that dimming and if driver's side makes the same dimming/flicker the motor is taking power and I would blame the motor itself. If nothing there would be more to investigate. If you can tap on the body of that motor it may go up one more time for you or perhaps make the request while opening and closing the door as the wiring in the door jam can be a problem spot so if that works you would need to check there.

You could use a voltmeter but it's too easy to just look at a dome light,

T
