Finding a Mechanic Sign In

For many years, I used the same mechanic for my three vehicles. I was very happy with the results. He rented a garage from a Lukoil gas station in NJ. Recently, I passed by the station and it was closed/abandoned and the garage was cleaned out. Unfortunately, there was no forwarding information posted anywhere letting me know where th mechanic relocated to. How can I locate this mechanic? I'm 99% positive he is a mechanic somewhere else in the area. After all these years, all I have is his first name. Is there a website, for example, that would list all auto mechanics in NJ? If not, is there some other way I can try to locate him? I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions. I always said that my doctor and this auto mechanic are the two guys I need to work as long as I'm alive.

Re: Finding a Mechanic Sign In

Did this place have a name or just this guy rented the building? How did you contact him for anything - try it again. People take the phone # or contact info of whatever with them if they move if still in the same biz.
IDK - there's no one listing of mechanics as anyone can say they are a mechanic but you could find out who owns the building and who supplied parts, usually local to the place.

Stuff happens. People are seriously late on rent, property sold or a list of reasons. Perhaps just stop there and look for close by businesses and ask if they have a clue.

Next - City Hall or town hall for the property - who owns it?

Re: Finding a Mechanic Sign In

I would contact him by calling the phone number at the gas station. The gas station and the garage shared the same phone number. The mechanic just rented the garage from the gas station owner. When I called the number, it allows me to leave a message but - since nobody is there any longer - no one returns my call. I tried contacting the Lukoil headquarters by email and they responded "The site was independently owned and operated and we do not know the whereabouts or have the contact information for the mechanic."

I may try the Town Hall, as you suggested. However, I think the best I could hope for is that they give the name of the person who owned the gas station. Even if I find a contact number for the gas station owner, I'm not sure if he would know where the mechanic ended up. But may be worth a try. Thanks

IDK - try getting a full name too. This scene could happen anywhere. Bills go unpaid for long enough now you've said a shared building gas and shop place so if the shat hit the fan with something closing down might not have been an option!

Good luck. Like any biz done any which way it happens.

Nothing from this site can help you that I can think of vs checking out local info if anyone will say at all what happened?

If you know the mechanics name, he/she might be on Facebook?

Unfortunately, even after all these years, I only knew him by his first name. And I don't think he is the type to have a FB page.
