One of my 68 impalas was molested by my dumb kid that was looking for parts to fix a 76 monte. Problem he left me was the door no longer opens using the inside or the outside handles. Window is down, I could climb in but it would do me no good. The car is inside with the passenger side against the wall. I would have to cut down a support beam to get it moved in order to open the passenger door and remove the seat. I really don't want to do that. What can I sneak down the channel opening to pull on the lock lever & open the door? It is not locked by the way, push button is just not connected to the opening device. Hey Sidom! Here's another one!!

The nick name is a "Slim Jim" to move the rods and fix it while door is open. Check with tool persons for shops or use a AAA type service to open door. Taking a door panel off with it shut can damaged it as you can see. Wire may work but go easy on rubber parts in if a power door you risk hurting wiring with any tricks,

I do hace a slim jim but I would like to know if there are any rods or levers that would open the door. I DON'T know if he left anything attached inside the door. He shut the door and neither door handle works- inside or out. Non power.

It might save time on a 67 to take door panel off the matching other door so you know just what to catch with a coat hangar or slim jim to open it,
