Hi all, This car was in an accident and totaled out. Two days prior to this accident, I filled it up completely. I bought a transfer pump and tried to syphon, but it doesn't work. Could somebody help me with this? if there is an anti-syphoning device then I'm just wasting my time Right? Thanks

There are baffles in the tank to prevent "sloshing" that make siphoning difficult to impossible. Try taking fuel filter off and forcing fuel pump instead, T

Thanks for the help, but what do you mean by forcing the fuel pump-what is the procedure?

It's an electric fuel pump. Car is totalled as you said so jumper it make it run to pump itself out. You should be able to do this at the relay for it if you can get at it. Use all caution of course as you are dealing with fuel , T

Or remove the filler neck and insert hose directly into the tank. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

Thank you- I assume the filler neck detaches from the tank so that I can do this?

Yep. There is a small screw that holds a ring that holds the filler to othe tank. Remove it, (I think it is an 8mm head). Then remove the screws that hold the top of the filler neck to the fuel door area. You meed to wiggle and speak the exact words, but it will come out. Have fun. Since the car is crashed anyway you could jack it up and punch a hole in the bottom of the tank and drain it into a bucket. Thats the way the thieves in Texas do it. Jeff

Thanks for the advice, but I think I will try to remove the filler neck so that I can siphon off about 5 gallons at a time!
