Anybody ever change the fuel sending unit in a 67 Mustang and did you have to remove the fuel tank to do so?

Take a good look. It might come out without removing the tank. If straps/bolts are rusty they are a pest,

There are no straps. The tank is held in by screws and has to be removed from the trunk. The top of the tank is actually the bottom of the trunk floor. The sending unit is toward the front of the car and next to the muffler. The muffler runs cross wise in front of the tank. There is a little room between them, but not sure there is enough. Would like to do the job without removing the tank if possible.

Yup, I remember that. Folks used to drill things they wanted to mount in the truck and were in for a surprise! I think you have to take that one out or maybe if you can move the muffler without destroying it,
