hey just wanted to post this......this morning a friend called me...wanted me to look at her friends brakes she was told by a local mechanic that she needed front pads, rotors and rear drums...she thought she heard a squeak..thats why she took it in...she wanted a second opinion...i took off the wheels, front pads were fine ,approx 50 % worn, rotors fine,no pulsation, pitting nothing.....rear were like new.....no squeak nothing.... oh yea...late model taurus..... sometimes it pays to have a second opinion if theres any doubt...

Taurus is really bad about dust build up in drums causing squeak. I have my techs clean and lightly sand drums and shoes on every preventative maintenance to help keep the noise down. Makes ya feel good also, dont it?? Good job and now you have just upped your reputation by 150%. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

yea for sure.... she was so afraid because she ignored a squeak on her last car and it cost her dearly.... she made the mistake of telling that to them..... its a shame because i believe most techs do a great job and a guy/shop like this is what gives us all a bad name...

I agree with you there. Thought I was the only one trying to give us a good name until I started the internet thing. I then noticed there are some really good people out there that actually want to restore the good name of a mechanic. I much prefer being a mechanic to being a technician. Mechanics can fix anything, technicians can only diagnose one area. Keep up the good work here. We really appreciate your input. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

HEY THANKS.... i'm with you...for years i was a 'mechanic' and still am.....at least in my mind... we always used to say the key to being a good mechanic is to be able to figure out how something works before you can determine why it doesn't work. remember," last week i couldn't even say 'meck can ick' and now i IS one".....LOL...
