1990 isuzu trooper

trooper runs fine when cold however after warming up it begins to miss and puff white smoke intermittently, then the gas milage goes way down.

Is the coolant level staying up? White smoke depending on how much is not a good sign.
There may be an internal coolant leak and the coolant is getting into the combustion chamber? This is just a guess but don’t wait to long before having it checked.
