I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze that was born (registered originally) in California. It left to washington in 2001, and returned in 2009. Earlier this year, the owners attempted smog and it had failed. They donated it to charity, who sold it to an auto auction, who sold it to a guy in my town. I bought the car from him. I thought he was the original owner, because he had signed next to his name. (Sneaky tricks) Bottom line: I have the car now, it just came from Washington (where it smogged fine), can anyone project any kind of repairs that are likely going to need to be made in order to bring it to California's insanely high standards?

If the car was donated you have to figure this isn't going to be a $100 to $200 repair. People don't usually off cars for small amounts and yes, there are good people out there who donate things just out of pure kindness but in those cases whatever is getting donated usually doesn't have a problem.....
