How to sell a car for parts? Sign In

I am looking to sell my 1996 Toyota Camry for parts. How do I determine the value of different parts so that I won't get ripped off? Is there a Kelley Blue Book-type resource for used car parts?

Also -- I don't want the hassle of selling each part myself, so I'd like to sell the car itself for parts. What types of places will buy used cars for this purpose?

Thanks!!

This is a salvage yard specialty. It's a popular car which is good for the used market. The value of the whole car will depend on what condition it is in now. Is it running, fire damage, flood damage, collision damage, mechanically what is still good and so fourth. Insurance companies routinely give a car a core value when they total a car based on what they think they can get for the remains.

It's a tricky game to place a value on these parts and many just get squished for just metal value vs storing it to sell just a couple possible parts.

Cars with good lower mile engines and complete front end body parts will get the most bucks but don't expect too much. You would get more if you parted it but that's a lot of work,
