Device to install in car to prevent speeding ? Sign In

Hi -- is there a device that can be connected to the gas pedal or somewhere to prevent a car from being driven above a certain speed limit, such as 75? I thought I'd heard of this years ago; something parents could have installed if they did not want their teen to speed. If there is such a device, what is it called and what does it cost to purchase and install? Thank you!

Interesting topic. No doubt the fear of one's own new/young driver is freightening. I believe there are devices now that just monitor the car, speeds driven and where it went that you can just hide in the car.

A device (any) that messes with car's OE wiring worries me right up front. Just what is safe for a device to do if in fact it thought (mistakes happen with devices!) it was going too fast? Would you want the engine to shut down or just what or how would you have it do something? I'd be afraid of all this good intention being the cause of an accident.

Parental/Guardian control of a young adult has been a challenge for all time. Do your best,

For the right amount of money, there are various things that can be installed to keep the speed down. You can install a throttle stop that will not allow it to go any farther. Problem with that, if they need wide open throttle to avoid accident, they don't have it. There are various computer systems where you can change a lot tof things. Maybe one of them will do. Good luck.
