How I get these jobs I don't know. have a 98 Subaru outback he had a fuel tank put in like 5 months ago and has had nothing but problems trying to put gas in it. what I have determined is it's not the right tank. the tank that should be there, right next to the fill opening at the tank it has a 3/4 nipple for the vent tube that goes to the top of the filler tube. who ever put this tank in routed the fuel cut valve to the vent tube, what makes this hard is I don't even know what year car the tank came out of. I know it's after 98 because of the way the vent and evap changed after 98. what I am looking for are diagrams for the evap systems. I have a newer fill tube and canister that I picked up and believe they will work I just need to know how to route every thing. I have seen diagrams that show the fuel cut valve being routed to the canister. and the canister I have has the 3/4 nipple marked as going to fuel tank. anyone that can help on this would be geate

Wouldn't it be easier to install the correct fuel tank? Base, Limited, or Sport? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

the problem is finding one that is designed for the system that is in the car. he paid 300 for the tank and a total of 700 all said and done. told him to take it back to the guy that did it. he said it would be another 125 or more to fix the problem . if I'm right in what I have found 99 and up have the purge valve up front this I believe is in the back near the canister as I have seen it in other diagrams there are other valves as well just in front of the rear wheel on p/s one I know is a pressure valve. I have a fair understanding of how the system works the canister is marked as to what goes where. Tank, purge, and drain just not sure on the three other smaller lines routing on the valve at the canister which I believe is the purge valve I have searched google images and other manuals but no luck. it would help if the guy that put it in would give a definitive answer as to what year the tank came out of as that would help.

I use to use alldata when I was doing collision work. this was some years back. Just paid for it to cover the vehicle in question and just wanted to thank you for some more money spent that got me NOTHING !!. anything covering the fuel tank or Evap or canister none of it depicts what this car actually has in it or how it is laid out or how the hoses are routed

well I'm sorry hammer time but you have yet to impress me with your Knowledge or skills from day one. even back when I had my chevy 3500 you had me checking all sorts of things wasting my time with a start issue. and what I learned on that one was the temp sensor is like the first thing on chevy to tell everything else in the system what to do. and you never mentioned it. and I got that from a tech from around the corner. I do appreciate the link to alldata sadly it has nothing to offer. I am just a bit frustrated and irritated that getting proper info and accurate diagrams for this vehicle just can't be found, trust me I have spent more than 10 hours searching . I even paid for another down loadable manual in pdf form and still no accurate diagrams that cover this vehicle. oh and yes I am still working on that ranger pickup I started just got the bare frame painted and will start putting it all back together in the next two weeks. ya know the one you said could not be done. when hundreds of others have done it

just wanted to add I believe this site is designed to solve problems and educate others, not to create them I think is sad that so many have to seek profit from every little tid bit of info this world has. and it's nice seeing sites like this one still up and running.

Alright............. It's very obvious that you aren't satisfied with the free help you get here so I think you should look elsewhere. I've had quite enough of your crap and sarcasm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
