By today's standards all my vehicles are pigs. I fight back by driving half a much!! One is a 3/4 ton Chevy truck with snow plow. It's worth the gas at twice the price vs the shovel!! I have a huge driveway and it does it in about four minutes!! I think that one is worth the fuel. I plow at my Dad's too (1.2 miles away). They have this cute habit of widenending the road long after a snow storm and there's a new pile at the end that you could see Europe from so I go back again. You can't even shovel that stuff it's so icy. I'm not a spring chicken but I don't think my Dad in his mid 80s should be messing with that! - T _________________________________________ Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest, Boston http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php

Yeh same here - all V8s and poor around town economy but in the 20s on a trip. $2.89 some places would die for!! Just got gas here for $2.81 but that was one of the days some places do cents off on certain days. Hey - the sports of it always did pay for fuel at outrageous prices. What confused me is that in yachting it was way more costly and we were buying it 300 or more gallons at a single stop - you'd think it would be cheaper?? I've always been a power boater but once went on a four hour chartered cruise on a huge sail boat. Funny but when they cleared the harbor they shut the engines off which almost made my heart stop!! I'm an engine person and NOT used to that.!! My next home may be a Shannon 50-60 foot sailboat at a marina in RI. If so I'll be on line, Be well, T _________________________________________ Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest, Boston http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php

I get about 24 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway in my 98 honda cr-v. It usually gets about 22mpg in the city and about 25 mpg on the highway, but at the moment I am trying out interpacific's d1280-x reformulator to try and compare if there really is a mileage difference. Seems to be working. Gas around where I live varies from about 2.99 up to 3.09 for unleaded gas.

Just a comment: My personal attack back at this fuel price craze which may get worse is to absolutely drive as little as possible. My cars don't do much for MPGs around town but if I can use them half as much it's my duty to do so and not all can do that but those who can should. Let's fight back and get going with alternatives. We have to start now for what may take years to accomplish. It was upsetting to hear owner of my closest corner store that biz was down and the store is the closest to many around me and he blamed it on the price of fuel. I think he's right, T _________________________________________ Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest, Boston http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php

In the U.S. new cars have a mandated sticker on the window that is supposed to tell you what to expect and the test is supposed to be in some controlled condition. What people actually get is always going to be unique to the conditions and the way they drive. In general we don't have a big problem on how much fuel you actually purched as it's pretty heavily checked so sellers can't cheat but I've heard of that, T _________________________________________ Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest, Boston http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php

FOLKS! THESE ARE SCAMS! THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS BURNING WATER IN A CAR IN PLACE OF FUEL. Yes - there are ways to extract hydrogen out of the H2O that water is made up of. It takes more energy to extract it than the hydrogen can give back so it's a double waste! If hydrogen was a wasted by product of doing something else that would be different. Save your money and time wasted on this nonsense, T _________________________________________ Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest, Boston http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php
