Hello, I own a 1962 Ford falcon 4 door sedan with a 170 ci, straight 6 engine with a 2 speed ford-o-matic. Currently I'm in the process of replacing the exhaust system on it. I have the set of pipes already set to be ordered however I wanted to get a good muffler. My car is a 170 so it isn't exactly the most powerful engine so I don't need anything that is going to make it sound more ferocoius than it actually is, yet I also want to get something will give the engine as much power as possible. I was looking at a couple things and a glass pack or cherrybomb could be a possibility, but i'm not sure how that would make my engine sound because of it's size. I was wondering if i should maybe go for something in more of a 3 chamber varaty. however I don't know, so I need your help. If you can, tell me what kind of muffler i should get, and if possible what brand and where to purchase it. money isn't really a factor. Thanks so much, rob

I put Flowmaster mufflers on a pickup I used to have and was pretty happy with them. They had a nice sound, but not loud enough to attract a cop's attention by any means. Got them from Summit Racing. The number is 1-800-230-3030 if you want to check with them on sizing and prices.

My opinion is that your better off just going with a stock muffler for the car. Back pressure restriction isn't really a concern here so there is nothing to gain beyond some funny sounding noise. The car will have more value sounding original. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
