1949 GMC 1/2 ton pickup. Drove truck to storage for the winter, went to start this Spring and it will not fire. Purchased a new battery also, turns over good. Checked: points - look good Spark plugs look good, checked two, both were dry...? Added gas directly into carb. 49 GMC - 18,000 miles - farm truck...engine re-built in 1984 Questions - condensor?, coil?, distributor? Not mechanically skilled. Jim

Hammer Time here has the post on hand. Never mind what LOOKS good it has to test good. If it ran than I will conclude it's missing spark as no response from being primed. Don't just go tossing things - find out what is missing and chase that. Points can look good and not be for one or condenser owes you nothing either. Think simple at first, Tom

My test sequence is for a fuel injected, late model. Whole different ball game in the 40's. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
