Left the Subaru windows down all night in a bad rainstorm Sunday night. Have kept a dehumidifier in the vehicle overnight Monday and have run the heater for a total of 4 hours. Nothing feels wet anymore but I plan to put the dehumidifier back in tonight. Have also kept the windows down while at work during the day. Do you think things are all dried out now & is there anything else I should do? Thanks

Nope, you need to completely remove the carpet as soon as possible. The carpet has a this layer of padding under the carpet and that never dries out. It will seem dry from the top but will start to smell real soon. It has to be removed from the car so air can get under it.

My friends new Mustang GT Convertible got drenched in an unexpected downpour last summer. There was over an inch of standing water in the back seat floor area, the front was soaked too. I sucked it all dry with my shop vac and she left the top down in her garage for a week or so. There's no smell. Maybe she was lucky..... but, creating the Sahara Desert with the dehumidifier sounds like a good idea..... maybe it's a gamble....... run it all day every day for a week?

Believe me, if you leave those carpets wet, your going to end up replacing them because of the smell. There is 1/2" of jute under the carpet that will stay wet and it only takes a couple days to get mildew smell.
