I have a 97 Chevy Silverado C1500 with the 5.7 engine and auto transmission. My problem is the #2 Oxygen Sensors. These are the one after the cats. The Service Engine Soon light came on and I had it checked and it said that the fuse for heating or the sensors themselves were at fault. The fuse was good so I purchased the sensors. Well I can't get the old sensors out. I bought one of the special tools that looks like a socket with the rachet fitting on the side and it broke as soon as I put any pressure on it. The book says to run the truck for a few minutes to heat every thing up which I did and the pipes were hot enough to burn you if not careful. Any ideas on how to remove them will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok: The sensors AFTER the converts shouldn't make it run lousy but the wires can screw up right at them - still means new ones. You shouldn't use high heat if you are saving them but you aren't and may need to oxy/acet heat to near glowing hot to remove them - they S*CK! Then you may need to rethread the pipe too! They sell those too. Use just the sensor with the correct thread sealer that should be on ones that are OE grade, plug em in and it's done till the front two act up.

The sensors cost enough - try not to hurt the pipe! Good luck,

if you want to get that sensore off try soaking it with PB blaster overnight then come
morning spray it down again waite 10 minutes and take the wrench or impact to it
believe me it really does work!
