Automatics use clutches, bands, seals, gaskets and more that come in a kit not all that expensive but labor intensive with special tools and know how. If as already said it has to come out and apart it's not my advice to even try to fix just one thing only to be back there later. A shop is unlikely to warranty the work if not done right. At the miles it could easily have gone thru one already but I can't peg a life expectancy for them.
