You probably mean you have a harsh 4-3 downshift. That transmission takes Mercon, but was phased out a while back. The replacement fluid is Mercon V. Got to know what is wrong with it and what it would take to fix it to give you a rough estimate on what it would cost to fix it. The cost of overhauling depends on the labor rate the shop charges and the markup they put on parts. You'll have to call around to get an average price.
