transmission fluid help! Sign In

Hello, we just bought a mazda626 4 cylinder car, first mazda we have ever owned, and we need to know where do you check the transmission fluid at? It has started a slight jerk just here & there when driving, thought it could be needing trans. fluid. any suggestions? thanks. could this type car do this if there is air being released anywhere? thanks again.

It should have a filler cap with a dipstick attached to it on the top side of the transmission.

oh ok thank you so much, I will try that tommorow : ) I was thinking if the fluid is low that may cause a slight jumping when driving. we got this car pretty cheap so I fugure we may have to do a couple things to it, there is also a small cloth wraped around one of two small pipes together on top of the motor, with a clamp holding the cloth on, could this perhaps be because of seeping air, and if so could this cause the slight jumping when driving? thanks so much again. the car has approx. 115,000 miles.

Oh, that's never a good sign. The manufacturer doesn't seal leaks by wrapping a rag around them. It's a pretty big fire hazard too.

uuummm thought that wasnt good there, considering if this air leak is the cause of the jumping when driving, should I be worried about a high auto repair bill? Or could this be replaced with another part/piece? thanks again.

Nobody has any idea what's wrong with your car until someone inspects it a determines what is going on.
