I just purchased a 2001 kia sephia two wks ago. It has over 100,000 miles. I bumped into a curb slightly while parking. In any other car this wouldn't have been a big deal. But it suddenly started making a horrible sound when I backed up and tried to put it in reverse. It sounds normal in park or neutral but won't go into drive or reverse and the sound is really bad. I just had it towed. I have a 30 day powertrain warranty and would like advice on what could have happened and if this would be covered in the warranty.

If the cause of the problem was from you smacking into a curb, the powertrain warranty probably won't cover it. You insurance company may cover it though. Can't tell you what is wrong without doing a visual inspection. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

have an independent technician inspect the vehicle, knowing the problem will guide your decisions . If hitting the curb caused catastrophic damage you can claim it on your collision insurance, let insurance and dealer fight it out.
