Re: transmission Sign In

The fuel gauge sticking could be the fuel sending unit.

As far as the tranny, you might want to take it to a tranny shop and have them scan it for codes.

As for the no start, the first thing to check is making sure the terminals are free from corrosion and tight.

Check back on here a little later. There are some professional mechanics on here that can give you much better advice then I can.

Re: transmission Sign In

You need to be checking your battery cables and connections. Unbolt them from the battery and use a pick to get them out of the rubber covers that hold them in there. Use sandpaper, wire wheel or whatever you can get to clean them until they look like polished copper. Coat the whole works in dielectric grease before you put it back in the rubber housing. If the bolts are corroded up get new ones. Don't use a regular bolt, GM side terminal bolts are cheap and in stock at every parts store in the country. Before you reconnect it to the battery, follow the cables of both power and ground to their other ends. Both should be on the front of the engine. The ground uses a stud on the bellhousing bolt and the power goes to the main stud of the starter. Clean those like you did the battery cables. If you don't have good contacts on the power and ground you will have all kinds of nightmares like the ones you are experiencing and its the first thing to look at to diagnose what is happening. Bad ground also can cause the issue you're having with your instrument cluster. Check that out first and let us know what you find.

Also, you need to get the codes scanned with a high-end scanner that can read transmission codes. A generic OBD-II won't cut it. Get the codes and post them here. If any engine codes are present we need them too.

So far I'm just elaborating on what MG mentioned with one exception. While a sticking fuel gauge by itself would point towards a likely bad sending unit, to have the speedometer doing the same thing at the same time points to a power/ground or an instrument cluster issue.
