Can't get past P (going left) and cant go all the way right to low 1 unless you hold it there. the 2 little lines on the switch line up

How do I get it all lined back up. it worked b4 i replaced switch...... Bad switch??? shift cable adjustment??

moved tranny arm all the way toward rear of truck then moved it 2 notches to what should be N... had colum lever held at N, put cable back on arm... still not right

Loosen the cable at the switch. Place the shift lever in neutral. Shift the transmission into neutral and then tighten the cable back. Make sure both are in neutral when adjusting the cable. Good luck.

thanks for the reply.... I tried to adjust from switch end... I can get it in park and the indicator is on park but once I shift to drive and then back it still won't go all the way back to park...

2 days is enough.... i give up... gonna take it to my mechanic in the morning.... it seems really loose up by the shift indicator now... I took that apart but the adjuster shown in the manual is not there... uuuuhhhhgggg!!!

Could be a problem with the column shift tube bushings being worn out or the shift tube bracket where the cable connects to at the base of the column has come loose from the bolts backing out.

Shift tube bracket

Shift tube bushings
under caps once column is dropped down

Yes i saw the bracket when looking at the parts diagrams earlier, didn't know about the bushings.... Gonna take it in tommorrow and let my guy fix it... the shifter was off a smidge to begin with and feels really loose now... just gonna get it fixed right as I am out of time to work on it..... the HUMMER is leaking water into the cab, the F250 is getting 6" lift tomorow, in the middle of a refi, and vacation week ends tomorrow... back to work on saturday... I will post with what ends up being the fix for this so others can learn from the issue... Thanks
