2005 Ford Taurus SE
3.0 V-6 Automatic
60,000

I changed the Neutral Safety Switch, have everything reconnected. It won't go into gear, but I still can start the motor in both Park, and in Neutral.
trans. fluid level is good, and feal clean. there doesn't appear to be any leaks around the tranny.I have never had this happen before,so any advice will be much appreciated.

Check the level of the transmission fluid with the engine off, then check the fluid level with with engine running if the level dosen't change you have pump/restriction issues.

The fluid level is higher when car not running. Also, when the car is in gear,(R,D), I am able to push it.Not so in park.
There are no leaks under the car, or around the Tranny.-thanks

Possible the linkage is miss adjusted try playing with the shifter put it into L(1) and work your way back to park slowly and see if you can feel it engadge.. If not your next step is to get it on a scanner and see if everything electricaly is working.

I already did this, and it does not engage. I have someone coming tomorrow to scan.
I have been told by 3 people, that they had the same situation, different type cars, and it was the Timing.I will see what the scan says. Again--Thanks

Well, the man that stopped today just went thru the same things I had checked, no scanner. The person for that hasn't called me back today. The man told me today he thinks, and he will check on this to let me know, it is the "shift solenoid".
I still need a scan to be sure.

timming??.. not sure how that has anything to do with this, but get it scanned and see what the codes are and let me know. Please note that if you are just using a code puller it may not pull some transmission codes. Some codes are spesific to ford and will not show up on some hand held code readers.

I didn't have a lot of faith in the "timing" thing myself.
I bought a code reader, and I get no codes,of course this probably pertains only to the engine(good reads for the engine)
I figure it has to be something with the Tranny, but not sure where to go next.
Any help much appreciated.
What about this shift solenoid. One man says about 3-400 for fix, but he would have to check the problem first.

It's hard to day at this point what it could be you need to take it to dealer or tranny shop and see if everything electrically is working properly. sounds like a transmission pump problem to me, but hard to say.
