Hello,
Was it low on fluid? If it was how much. Does the car go in reverse? Not much can be done with this, problem is on the inside of the trans. Gary

Hello,
Ok, if you have a smooth reverse, that would tell me the 1-2-3-4 clutch is bad. The fluid being black is just contamination. Flushing out trans wont work, you would just be wasting money. Transmission would have to be doneUnimpressed. Gary

I'm still on the first page. I think you can change that in your settings.

I went back and read the threads, you had stated the car wont move in drive. I personally dont think the tcm will fix this problem.Unimpressed

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

I can understand his concern because the module is mounted to the valve body and contains all the solenoids which could get trashed. I'd be leery of using the old part myself unless there is a way to do an operational check of it out of the vehicle or if you find the root cause of the issue wasn't TCM/solenoid related. If you have a bum solenoid or TCM problem that is the cause of the transaxle's demise, he would have to take it all back down again. hmmmm

I guess you could plug it in with it out of the transmission along with its sensors connected and do some bi- directional controls with a high end scanner to test solenoids and such.

List price of the assembly is $497.96 with a $25 core. It also has to be flashed. $1000 for the controller/solenoid assembly and flashing is a little steep IMO.

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

I normally like to run the vin's of the cars, i cant do that in this case. Since the years are close together i would think you will be ok. How will you know if the trans is good, you really wont until its installed and road tested, hopefully with a 2012 trans the mileage wont be that bad. It wouldnt hurt to ask the mechanic what the mileage is on the trans thats going in your car, you can also sample the fluid, make sure it looks clean. One tip for you, after installation the car will have to be road tested, as you drive the car the transmission will adapt, make sure there is no check engine lite on,make sure there are no codes present in the system trans or engine, the oil temp. of the trans has to be above 140 degrees fahrenheit in order for it to adapt, they will not adapt cold. Let us know how you do. Gary
There is a slight chance that the trans may have to be reprogrammed since its not the original one from the car(i wouldnt worry about that yet)

Make sure they use synthetic fluid only, it should take dextron 6, but if you use a fully synthetic it should be able to adapt. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Glad its working, Just to let you know the transmission does have adaptive learning, but it only adapts when trans oil temp is 140F or more and no codes are present in the tcm. Thanks for the update. Gary
