Transmission reverse fine but drive doesn't drop in gear until rev'd up high Sign In

Please help my 1997 ford f150 4.6 l v8 auto trans has issues not sure what it is... But it will work in reverse fine but when u put it in drive it doesn't feel like it does anything until u rev it up pretty high then it barely starts pulling before suddenly dropping into gear then it will drive fine stopping and going no slipping at all... But if driving on the highway if you kick in the passing gear its like it comes out of gear then drops suddenly back into gear when you let off the gas.....but like I said it will pull fine and shift through the gears while driving normal..... But if you take it out of drive then put it back into drive then it's back to square one.... Please any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Have it towed to the transmission shop. It needs a rebuild.

That just depends on how many hard parts you have ruined by continuing to drive it.
