1993 Ford Econoline E-150 133,000 miles 5.0 Liter Hello, I am having some transmission problems with my van. I had put it in reverse to back into the driveway, and as soon as I did that, and pushed the gas pedal, the car jerked pretty violently. The vehicle will not reverse at all, it just revs up like it's in neutral. In Drive, I can't get past 2nd gear, and in order to switch from 1st gear to second, I have to play with the gas pedal. In overdrive, it's the same except when the rpms get high in 2nd gear, the engine just starts revving up as if it's not in gear at all, and the van stops accelerating. I am just wondering if the transmission is just totally shot, or if it could possibly be something less major. I have checked the transmission fluid, and it is full. I would appreciate any advice on this.

Sound like it could be a band broken or worn out in the transmission. Does it work in L gear?

More then likely the band is broken, transmission will need to overhauled.
