I have a 1998 Honda accord, manual 5 speed. My husband went to drive it today and it would not go into gear. There is no resistance, freely moves from 1st-2nd with tons of play. Will not go anywhere else. I drove the car yesterday and it shifted fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Might want to inspect the shift linkage where the shift cable connects at the transmission while hubby moves the gear shifter around. See if the linkage moves.
