Search Auto Parts Search Transmission hits hard in 4th gear and Reverse Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Transmission Problems Honda760 New User Feb 7, 2012, 12:01 AM Post #1 of 3 (2167 views) Transmission hits hard in 4th gear and Reverse Sign In 1998 Honda Accord Ex Automatic Transmission 4 Cyl 2.3 Engine, 240,000 miles on car So a sort of new transmission (taken off a running car) was put in with 60,000 miles on it today we bought a brand new torque converter and put transmission fluid in converter and fluid is full at moment. Honda ran smooth on the way home, now the check engine light has just came on and the car hits hard in 4th gear (drive) and reverse. What could be causing this problem? Someone told me maybe the alternator and I unplugged it and car ran smooth for a second now hitting hard again in Fourth gear (drive) and reverse????? Could it be solenoids? The computer? Or??? I am lost now....
