Trans will not shift

Hey there
I have a 1994 K1500 Z71 the problem I am haveing is I have to pull the gear lever into a low gear like 2 or 1 to start off then just manuel shift up but the truck will not go into over drive if I try to start off in D the truck moves but acts like it is in a bind what can this be and what can I do I have replaced the wire harness and 2 shift selaods

Does the speedometer work correctly? Any trouble codes? Check engine lamp illuminated? Which engine? So many questions.

Hey there
Yes the speedometer works fine It has the 5.7 350 the engine lite is on but has been for the past 3 years without any problems tell now and I have not had it coded yet all I know is I replaced the wireharness because it was showing bare and bad wires and the guy i got the truck from 3 years ago had a big ball of wires under the body of the truck and my 4x4 was not working right I orded a manule shift cable kit from summit raceing to get reid of the stock actuwater value the locks my 4x4 that is when this started I also posted a post in the engine area because I am haveing starting and idle problem now also

Okay; The check engine light has been on for three years and you haven't bothered to find out WHY? From personal experience, if you get a severe pain in your left arm or solar plexes, I'd suggest you get it checked. Good luck.

The lite is on becuase of a change I made 3 years ago to the muffler went from stock to duels nothn else so what can it be

The exhaust wouldn't make a CEL illuminate unless you put on headers and removed the O2 sensor.

that is what i did I put true duels on the truck so what would make me have my problem

if I can not fix this problem with out spending alot of money can i take out the 4L60 I have and put in a 700R but would like to fix the problem

If you removed the O2 sensor, how is the PCM going to know how to deliver fuel? By replacing the harness, the PCM is getting what data it can. If it can't 'see' O2 operation, well,.....

You missed the point. If the CEL is illuminated, the PCM is telling you that there is a problem. Since you haven't bothered to check what the problem is, this is moot. You don't know if it's the O2, or not. Once you get the codes retrieved, then we can go further. Until then...... (engine management can cause shifting problems)
