1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.9 20390 miles automatic trans.....I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 I recently replaced the transmission at one of my local mechanics shops. After i got my truck back i realised that my 4x4 was not working. Witch worked fine when i took it to them. I called the shop and asked them to look at it and see if they could tell what was causing the problem. they looked and said 4x low was working just not 4 high. they said they would look into it further later in the week. meanwhile I was pulling out on to a highway when it revved up like it was missing a gear then clunked twice and went into gear. It felt like a transmission miss, but when i took it back to them they said its the transfer case. I just spent 2500 dollars for these guys to fix my tranny. There is no whining or grinding or clunking coming from my transfer case no abnormal noices at all. I feel like this might not be a transfer case problem maybe thats just wishfull thinking cuz i can't afford to put more money into this truck. SOMEBODY help please?

That wouldn't be a symptom a transfer case would produce. That is a transmission problem.

You need to take it back to them and tell them to make is right. Since they had the transfer case and transmission out, they need to figure out why 4 high is missing.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
