Tranny help on 95VW Jetta Sign In

My transmission in my 1995 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L automatic 240000km, has gone. I need to know if I can put another year transmission in my car or if I have to put a 95 in. The price difference is about 400$ between my year and any other year out here...Unsure
Someone help? :)

What do you think the reason for the price difference is?

I am not sure why the difference is so much. Took ALOT of searching to find just one that was the exact same as my car when all others are very easy to come by.

Re: Tranny help on 95VW Jetta Sign In

95 was a crossover year in the industry to switch from OBD1 to OBD2 and the 95 year for most all makes is something of a hybrid of the two systems, so the only one that will fit and communicate with the computer is a 95. They didn't make a lot of them and thats why its so expensive, because its the only one that will work.
