Tranny and transfercase swap

I have a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser with a three speed tranny and the original 6 cyl engine and have heard that you can swap out the tranny and transfer case for one out of a Toyota pickup, has any one heard of this ?

1972! That info may be tough now. Seriously - Toyota wasn't even in the top few automakers that far back. Software for what fits what and the years is common at salvage yards/junk yards so I'd plain call and see who has the interchange software that far back. Best I can say is start there or find the exact year and model,
