Is it better for wear on an auto transmission to keep the brake pressed while in drive at a stoplight or to put the tranny in neutral? Does keeping the brake pressed cause wear because the torque converter is working with the transmission gears stopped? If you continually put the car in neutral then you are engaging and re-engaging the trans.

Through normal driving, holding the brake pedal is what it's designed to do. The key word is normal. If you were going to be sitting there for an extended period of time, meaning in excess of 5 minutes, then I would shift it into park.
